What does brick means? How can I brick my device? Is it bad?
Bricking your phone means bringing/putting your phone in a state where it can’t be used and booted. A bricked device is a device that doesn’t starts because of a software error, usually at startup.
You can brick your iDevice by not following the instructions from the tutorials, clicking on a wrong button or pressing a wrong key.
When jailreaking, even if you follow the exact and correct steps, you have a good chance to brick your phone as the patches applied are not officially approved nor tested by the official producer – Apple. Usually jailbreaking your devices has a small amount of risk, as all software/hardware hacks have.
If you bricked your device (it doesn’t boots, it’s shows a weird error, etc) than…bad luck. You can’t do anything to bring back your iDevice to life (unless you work at an official Apple service).
The single thing that you can do after bricking your iDevice is to return it back to the Apple Store or go with it at an official Apple service. Please note that jailbreaking your device is illegal so don’t expect to be welcomed with flowers and prepare a good excuse (like “my three years old cousin came at my place, I noticed that he was playing with my phone, and the next thing I know is this ugly black screen!”).
